Last year we hosted an incredible 24 hour long party for our beneficiaries. 22 critically or terminally ill children and their families attended our unique event, A Year in a Day.
Families arrived at midday on the Saturday and stayed until midday on the Sunday; during that time we hosted a year of celebrations including Valentines, Easter, Summer, Halloween, Guy Fawkes & Christmas.
Our brave kids and their families will have missed many if not all these celebrations during their treatment, throughout their childhood, due to hospital stays which often separates families, ill health and isolation. Some of these kids will sadly, not see another of these celebrations so we are providing them all with a “bonus year”.
The charity covers the cost of the entire 24 hours; from the accommodation to food, from the parties to the Christmas presents. We add as many surprises as we can throughout; last year this included a mermaid in the swimming pool during Summer, to a petting zoo during Easter, from a walking skeleton in Halloween to a snowball fight at Christmas.
